The largest unclaimed property firearms auction in state history kicked off Thursday morning in Charleston. The auction raises money for 15 law enforcement agencies across the state including the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, South Charleston Police Department, Beckley, and Huntington Police. The agencies are allowed to turn over unclaimed, seized, or outdated firearms and have the proceeds returned to them. The state Treasurer’s Office organizes the auction and they hope to raise more than $100,000 for the agencies this year.
