West Virginia forestry officials said outdoor burning restrictions have returned with the start of spring fire season. The West Virginia Division of Forestry said you should confine outdoor burning to the hours of 5 p.m. 7 a.m. Fires set during that time must be put out before 7 a.m. Statewide burning restrictions will remain in effect until the close of the spring fire season on May 31. Burning guidelines can be viewed on the Division of Forestry’s website. Commercial burning during prohibited periods requires a permit, which are issued by local Division of Forestry offices.
