The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Office is working to identify human remains found in a rural area near Armstrong Road. Sheriff Bill Nunley said motorcyclists riding on a trail found the body Monday afternoon. Nunley said the body appears to have been there for some time and they have not been able to make an identification. The West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Unit was called in to help remove the remains, which will be sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and an exact cause of death.
