Leader of a Fayette County drug ring is sentenced

A Fayette County woman convicted of running a significant drug trafficking organization has been sentenced. 42-year old Heather Hewitt of Prosperity was sentenced to up to 90 years in prison and fined $25,000 for her role in the ring, according to the Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office. Hewitt was convicted of personally transporting large quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine as the head of the network. More than $250,000 was also seized from Hewitt’s organization through the investigation. Prosecutors said she’ll have to serve 21 years in prison before she’s eligible for parole.
