Live on the Levee will bring road closures tonight

The 2023 Live on the Levee season kicks off tonight (Friday, May 26) with Veteran’s Night featuring musical performances by The Chase and Hair Supply to be followed by a fireworks show. The festivities will affect traffic on both sides of the Kanawha River. Starting this afternoon, Kanawha Boulevard will be closed from Capitol Street to Court Street as outdoor dining returns to Charleston. At 3 p.m. Kanawha Boulevard from Hale Street to Court Street will be closed. Virginia and Quarrier Streets will remain open. At 6 p.m., MacCorkle Avenue and Porter Road will be closed to westbound traffic, MacCorkle Avenue and Route 119 will be closed to eastbound traffic and MacCorkle Avenue and Thayer Street will be closed to eastbound traffic. Starting at 9 p.m., Grossup Road will be closed at Louden Heights Road, and Bridge Road and the Southside Bridge will close.
