A Kanawha County man accused of sexually assaulting a child was taken into custody this week. 59-year old John F. Kiser of Cross Lanes was charged with third-degree sexual assault, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said a 14-year-old girl ran away from home on Feb. 23, and when she returned she told her family she’d been sexually assaulted. The girl told investigators the alleged abuse had taken place in a camper. Deputies were able to identify Kiser as the owner of the camper. Kiser told deputies he’d had contact with the girl, but denied any sexual allegations. However, DNA obtained from Kiser matched swabs taken from the girl during her sexual assault examination. Bond for Kiser was set at $200,000 property or 10% cash.
