The West Virginia Parkways Authority expects another busy Fourth of July travel period on the West Virginia Turnpike. Through July 9, an estimated 1.355 million vehicle transactions are expected on the Turnpike. West Virginia State Police have also increased their presence, looking for distracted, drunk, speeding, and aggressive drivers. They’re putting an emphasis on DUIs, especially along high traffic areas like Interstate 64 and US Route 52. Today should be the heaviest single day of traffic over the holiday period, with 175,000 transactions expected just on the WV Turnpike.
