New Marshall baseball stadium is named after former player

Work continues in Huntington on the new Marshall baseball stadium that now has a name. The foundation for the seating area behind home plate and the boundaries of the ballpark have been set as crews aim for the completion date ahead of the 2024 season. The Marshall University Board of Governors approved the naming of the field as Jack Cook Field. Cook was the head coach from 1967 to 1989. The team areas will be known as the Alex Lawrence Clubhouse following a $1 million gift from Kim Lawrence, the widow of the former Marshall standout who played from 1955-59.
