Nicholas County Board of Education continues to evaluate flood recovery options

New details emerged out of Nicholas County as the Board of Education met with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to discuss the next steps for school replacement and improvements after encountering budgetary shortfalls. Nicholas County Board of Education President Weldon Chip Perrine told Eyewitness News it depends on what FEMA will allow them to do. The school system is facing a $72 million shortfall of bids for school replacements and improvements stemming from floods in 2016. One plan would build a middle school at the Glade Creek site and renovate the current CCT Center that’s in Craigsville. Other proposals are on the table and the board will meet again July 3 to talk about them.
