One person is arrested after shots fired near a Kentucky police officer

A man was taken into custody in connection with a shooting that injured an officer Monday in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Wesley Cornell of Vanceburg is charged with attempted murder of a police officer and wanton endangerment, according to jail records. Investigators said the Olive Hill police officer was sitting in his vehicle when someone fired a shot into the vehicle, causing the glass to break and cut the officer’s arm. The officer who was injured was flown to a Huntington area hospital and is expected to be okay. Cornell is currently being held without bond.
