Testimony got underway Monday in Putnam County for the trial of a popular restaurant owner who is accused of abducting a woman and sexually assaulting her. Achraf A. Assi, who goes by Osh, pleaded not guilty in March. Assi is the owner of Fairways Bar & Grill on Teays Valley Road in Hurricane. Assi’s attorney, Travis Hoffman, told the jury during his opening statements that the victim’s actions were voluntary. The victim’s attorney said there is surveillance video that proves her client was assaulted. The trial is continuing.
