The Robin Ames Memorial Act was passed during this year’s legislative session that outlaws not just cell phone use while driving but any type of modern device such as a tablet and creates stricter penalties for those who injure or kill someone while driving distracted. The legislation went into effect on June 9 and is named to honor the life of Robin Ames who was hit and killed by a distracted driver while riding a bike in 2020 in Preston County.
