Former West Virginia University head men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins is demanding to be reinstated to his job and claims he never resigned from the position following a DUI arrest last month. The news was first reported by WV Metro News late Saturday evening. In a letter from Huggins’ attorney, David Campbell, to university president Gordon Gee dated Friday, Campbell said Huggins never communicated his resignation to Gee, the athletic director, or anyone at WVU. The attorney said Huggins did not desire litigation and “is simply looking for the correction of a clear breach of his employment agreement with WVU.” Stephanie Taylor, vice president and general counsel for the WVU Office of the General Counsel, wrote in a response letter that the allegations are factually inaccurate. Huggins is set to appear for a formal arraignment in the case next month.
