The Kanawha Valley’s newest sports facility will host a fundraising tournament for emergency workers with the “Serving for Safety” Pickleball Tournament this month. The event will happen July 21, 22 and 23 at the Nitro Athletic Complex. Metro 911 reports nearly 200 players have registered for the event which will feature open play for seasoned paddlers and lessons for beginning players along with food trucks, live music and a pickle-eating contest. The inaugural fundraiser will also include an adoption event with the Putnam County Human Society. The Nitro Sports Complex has 17 outdoor courts, making it the largest pickleball facility in the Mountain State.
