Pursuit leads to drug arrests

A vehicle pursuit in Saint Albans led to drug charges for two men from Michigan. On Saturday, police tried to stop a black Lincoln SUV, which was a focal point of a drug investigation being done by the Special Enforcement Unit of the Saint Albans Police Department. When police turned on emergency lights to do the traffic stop, the driver initially pulled over, but as an officer got out of their vehicle, the driver took off, first into the Jefferson area of Saint Albans, then eventually entered the I-64 westbound entrance ramp and took off into Putnam County. That’s when the car had mechanical issues and slowed to a stop. Police took the passenger into custody without incident, but the driver refused officers’ commands, and fought until he was put into handcuffs. The two people in that vehicle were identified as 36-year-old Levonte Marvontez Bell, from Detroit, Michigan and 28-year-old Jaylen Dalaino Bell from Dewitt, Michigan. They are both facing drug charges.
