City of Charleston unveils a new Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. mural

Monday marked the 60th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, and the City of Charleston used the opportunity to unveil a new mural in the downtown area that was three years in the making. Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin was there with lead artist Jeff Pierson at the dedication ceremony for the mural, which features Dr. King Jr. along with 1,325 self-portraits painted by community members. The mural can be seen outside the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center just off of I-64.
