Complaints against former Charleston Police Chief will be thoroughly investigated

The Charleston Police Department and West Virginia State Police have confirmed active investigations involving Charleston’s recently resigned police chief. James “Tyke” Hunt is accused of sexual misconduct by two women. He stepped down as chief on Friday, citing personal and medical reasons. Jenny Harless, of Marmet, filed a complaint with West Virginia State Police. Investigative Services Bureau Chief Lt. Tony Hazelett said a separate complaint was received by the police department on Monday night. The Professional Standards Division will investigate the complaints.
