GoFundMe to help Charleston firefighter battling cancer

Charleston Fire Department is asking for the public’s support after one of its own was recently diagnosed with cancer. Justin Hawkins is a firefighter and paramedic, and was diagnosed with testicular cancer after a visit to the emergency room. According to a fundraising page created by loved ones, Hawkins had to have emergency surgery to remove a mass, but the cancer has spread into his lymph nodes in his lower abdomen, which will now require multiple rounds of chemotherapy. A GoFundMe page for Hawkins has been organized by friends and family.
