A petition has been filed calling for a September meeting to consider a no confidence vote of West Virginia University President Gordon Gee. The West Virginia Faculty Senate Office confirmed it received the petition amid growing frustration with the university’s “transformation” plan that could eliminate or significantly reduce several programs. Gee recently had his contract extended a year to allow him to oversee the changes at the university. He plans to retire once the contract expires. The petition also calls for a freeze to the university’s “academic transformation” process.
