Samuel May is sentenced for Cross Lanes woman’s death

A man charged after a woman’s body was found in a freezer in Cross Lanes will spend the next 40 years in prison after being sentenced to the maximum by a judge.
Samuel May previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder as part of an agreement that saw eight other charges dismissed. May is accused of killing Cynthia Mudd, whose body was found in August 2022 in a freezer in the backyard of her home on Saulton Drive in Cross Lanes. Prosecutors previously said Arnold Hiller was also living in the home. In June, Hiller was sentenced to one to five years in prison for his role in the crime after pleading guilty to concealing Mudd’s body.
