School safety initiative puts additional resource officers in schools

In addition to students, school resource officers are headed back to class as well. The law enforcement officers in schools have become a staple throughout West Virginia to protect students and provide resources. The state is making use of a $2-million grant to add school safety officers to more schools across the state. The School Safety Initiative has analyzed mistakes and successes and condensed them into a comprehensive, easy-to-read document designed to educate, instruct, and empower school personnel, students, parents, and community members regarding school safety and crisis planning.
