Legendary Mountaineer athlete Chuck Howley is set to have his football number retired at West Virginia University this fall. The Pro Football Hall of Famer will have his No. 66 retired at WVU during the football team’s matchup with BYU on Nov. 4. The Wheeling native competed in track, swimming, men’s gymnastics, wrestling and football, but excelled the most in football. Howley was selected by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 1958 draft and later played for the Dallas Cowboys under Tom Landry.
