Water customers in Paden can use the water again

State officials approved a request to lift a “do not consume” notice for customers of Paden City Water Works after their water was contaminated with a toxic dry-cleaning chemical. The notice was originally issued Aug. 16 after detectable levels of PCE were found in the local water supply, impacting 4,000 customers in Wetzel and Tyler counties. People were told not to consume or use the water for bathing or even washing clothes. Paden City Water Works will continue to flush as needed while also collecting weekly samples until the Bureau for Public Health is confident that levels of PCE remain below the maximum level.
