A Kanawha County woman to be sentenced for stealing veteran’s benefits

A Kanawha County woman pleaded guilty this week to her role in a wire fraud scheme that included the theft of a veteran’s stolen disability benefits. 50-year old Amy Deavers of Glasglow is accused of being involved in a scheme where personal information was used in an effort to open lines of credit, bank accounts and obtain loans and credit cards in their name. Prosecutors said the scheme initially began under Brittany King and a co-defendant through King’s employment from December 2020 through at least Dec. 1, 2022. Deavers is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 6.
