Burning hours are in effect for the fall season

The first day of October marked the beginning of forest fire season when dry, windy conditions can elevate fire risks. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection advises no open burning during the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 without a special permit from the Division of Forestry.
All fires must have a ring or safety strip and flammable materials within 10 feet of the fire should be cleared. Fires must be attended at all times until completely extinguished. There’s more online with the DEP.
