Thousands of pounds of trout have been added to West Virginia lakes and streams

Dozens of streams and lakes have been freshly stocked with trout and the DNR is hosting a statewide contest for anglers who catch some specially tagged fish. More than 40,000 pounds of trout have been stocked in 43 locations. Five fish will be tagged, giving anglers the chance to win a prize. Anyone who catches a monster trout and submits a photo and tag number by Nov. 17 will be eligible to win a weekend cabin stay at a West Virginia State Park or a Cabela’s prize package. Anglers 15 years and older are required to have a state fishing license, a trout stamp and valid identification while wetting a line. More information on licensure may be attained on the West Virginia DNR webpage.
