Two adults face child neglect charges after children are found locked in a barn

Two people have been charged after Kanawha County deputies said they found children locked in a barn in Sissonville. Donald Ray Lantz and Jeanne Jay Whitefeather were charged with felony gross child neglect creating a substantial risk of injury, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said they were called to the 200 block of Cheyenne Lane in Sissonville where they found the children, whom investigators believe were locked in the barn for days at a time. A caller also alleged the children were made to do farm work and not allowed in the home. Deputies said they also found another small child locked inside the main residence alone.
