U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin announced he will not be seeking reelection to the senate.
The senator made the announcement Thursday in a video post on his social media, saying the decision came after months of deliberation. Manchin has served in the office since 2010 when he was elected following Robert C. Byrd’s death. Prior to his election to the senate, he served as West Virginia’s governor from 2004-10.
