Park Plaza Shopping Center to host two dozen new stores

The Park Plaza Shopping Center in South Charleston that is now under construction could be the site of a Kroger Marketplace. South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens said no official documents have been signed, but hints that it is very likely. If all goes according to plan, this would be the first Kroger Marketplace in West Virginia, with grocery, pharmacy and expanded general merchandise including outdoor living products, home goods and toys. Mullens said if an agreement is reached, construction on the new Marketplace should start in July of 2024. Anywhere between 20 to 26 stores will be built at the Park Plaza Shopping Center and most of those will undergo construction all at once–this upcoming summer. Three stores have been confirmed so far already: Chick-fil-A, Starbucks and Menards.
