Richwood High School band gets an invitation to perform in Washington D.C.

The Richwood High School band, known as the Lumberjack Express, finished the high school football season on Friday night, and now they’ve been invited to perform at the U.S. Capitol for the nation’s tree lighting ceremony. The Lumberjack Express has also played the Kentucky Derby, the Indy 500, the Gator Bowl, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. A new Richwood High is under construction and for the past seven years, all 320 Richwood High School students have remained in temporary pods in Craigsville. One hundred of those students are in the band. Donations for their trip can be made to the Richwood High School Band Boosters and mailed to the school.
