School board votes to close Ranger Elementary

School board members in Lincoln County voted to close Ranger Elementary School. The school board narrowly approved the closure by a 3-2 vote on Tuesday. The final ruling now rests with the West Virginia State Board of Education, which is expected to make its decision during a Dec. 14 meeting. Board members said the school had 72 students and was expected to see declining enrollment in the coming years on top of facility issues. If the school were to close, students would go to either Harts PK-8 or West Hamlin Elementary.
