The United States Postal Service is exploring the possibility of consolidating operations at its facility in South Charleston. The USPS has begun a review of the South Charleston Processing & Distribution Center to consider consolidating operations to facilities in Pennsylvania, as part of the postal service’s plan to “modernize” its mail processing network. The union released a statement to Eyewitness News saying consolidation would further delay mail processing and diminish the plant’s current role. If operations were moved, some employees could be reassigned. Public comments are being taken now.
