A woman who garnered statewide recognition recently for her work in the classroom has been suspended. Jessica Grose, an Upshur County teacher’s aide who was named the 2023 West Virginia Service Personnel of the Year in January, has been suspended from “her professional duties” as well as those associated with the award, according to a news release from the West Virginia Department of Education. State superintendent Michele L. Blatt said in the news release that the move comes after an incident involving a student that occurred at French Creek Elementary School late last week. West Virginia State Police and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources were notified of the incident and are investigating.
