Teen apparently shot while attending a party

A male teenager is recovering following a shooting incident in the Witcher Creek area of eastern Kanawha County early Sunday morning. Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies said around 3 a.m. Sunday, they were given a tip about a possible shooting victim at the Exxon gas station on Witcher Creek Road in Belle, but didn’t find anyone. They continued to investigate and eventually were able to locate the 14-year-old boy in Chesapeake, who had suffered a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies believe it happened at a party that was being held on strip mine property in the Witcher Creek area. The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information should contact the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
