A man in body armor surrenders his weapon to police

A Kanawha County man who was found heavily armed and wearing body armor was taken into custody Wednesday in a shots fired investigation. 42-year old James J. Kline of Elkview faces several charges. Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies were initially called to an apartment complex on Elk Village Drive after Kline allegedly pointed a gun at his girlfriend and then at himself. Investigators said they later found evidence that multiple shots were fired at the apartment complex. At that point deputies found Kline walking in the roadway wearing body armor and carrying a semi-automatic rifle. He dropped his weapon and was taken into custody without incident. Kline is currently being held on a $200,000 cash bond.
