A man is electrocuted after attempting to cut power lines

A man was hospitalized Thursday morning after he was shocked while attempting to cut lines at an American Electric Power substation in Kanawha County. Deputies said the 36-year-old man broke into the Chelyan AEP substations and was electrocuted by high voltage. He was taken to a local hospital with second-degree burns to his face and chest. The sheriff’s office said it could not confirm if the incident is what led to more than 2,200 customers losing service in the area. An investigation into the incident is underway.
