Tyr Energy Development Renewables has the green light to put more than 226-thousand solar panels on more than 300 acres of Mason County farmland. Some neighbors at the project area near Letart have been putting up signs to protest, concerned about how the solar farm will alter the land. Eyewitness News reported that TED Renewables, using the name New Haven PV I worked out lease agreements with farms in the area to secure 1,555 acres of farm land. The company will select about 300 to place the solar panels on. The company is hopeful to have the 100-megawatt solar facility up and running by 2026 and the panels will have a life of about 30 to 35 years. Then the land will be restored to farmland. Construction is expected to begin in 2024.
