St. Albans man faces charges after an incident with his girlfriend

A St. Albans man is accused of pepper-spraying his girlfriend and stealing her car. 29-year old Michael Carpenter faces several charges, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Carpenter is accused of pepper-spraying his girlfriend Saturday near the Taco Bell in Cross Lanes and then allegedly stealing her vehicle. Carpenter’s license was revoked for a prior DUI, and he was allegedly found to be in possession and under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. The victim in the incident was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Carpenter is currently being held on a $26,000 bond.
