Firefighters rescue a man from a second-story apartment

Fire agencies worked to contain a blaze in a two-unit apartment building Sunday afternoon in Charleston where one person was injured. Firefighters rescued a man from the second story of the building and he was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. The blaze was reported by emergency dispatchers in the 1300 block of Lewis Street about 2:30 p.m. Firefighters said the flames were contained to a second-floor bedroom. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
