A Kanawha County man accused of stealing hundreds of pounds of telecommunication wire is facing multiple charges. Court recorts said 29-year old
Darin Barefield of Chelyan, has been charged with grand larceny, destruction of public utility company property and third-degree arson. Deputies were notified of a man attempting to recycle telecommunication wire Monday at Freedom Recycling in Charleston. Investigators said Barefield admitted to cutting down the wire along Coalburg Road in mid-December. During a search of Barefield’s vehicle, deputies found about 325 pounds of telecommunication wire with the casing burned off.
Barefield is being held on $5,000 cash-only bail at South Central Regional Jail.
