Gayle Manchin, the wife of U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, is in stable condition after a crash Monday in Alabama. The former first lady of West Virginia and Beckley native was traveling from the airport to a hotel in Birmingham, Alabama, with a colleague when the crash happened. Gayle Manchin and her colleague, Guy Land, were in Birmingham for an Appalachian Regional Commission event. She has served as co-chair of the commission since 2021.
