FEMA opens recovery center in Kanawha County

FEMA representatives have opened a disaster recovery center in Kanawha County to assist flood victims in Boone, Calhoun, Clay, Harrison and Kanawha County affected by August 2023 flood. FEMA will be at Belle Town Hall, 1100 East Dupont Avenue, according to a news release. A FEMA case number will be assigned to verify cases. Kanawha County officials noted that applicants should be wary of scammers. Personal information should only be given to those able to identify themselves as FEMA staff. Representatives will never ask for a fee or payment. FEMA staffers work in pairs and may be identified by badges and marked vehicles.
