Local leaders are recognized during Black History Month

The Charleston City Council paid tribute to Black History Month at a meeting this week. People from 18 organizations or businesses were honored for the work they’re doing in the community. There were charitable and non-profit groups there, along with several African American authors, artists and government leaders. Keke “Chef Ke” Frederick, from Dem 2 Brothers & a Grill Downtown was among the entreprenuers honored, along with Shante Ellis from the YWCA Center for Racial Equality & Inclusion.
