‘Operation Washout’ leads to hundreds of arrests

The U.S. Marshal Service said they have arrested nearly 600 people in an operation to locate and arrest suspects wanted for felony drug violations and violent crimes. Marshals said Operation Washout – OD3 was a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement operation that focused on arresting violent fugitives and suspects wanted for felony narcotic violations at a dozen locations throughout the U.S.. The operation lasted from January 8, 2024 until February 2, 2024 and the operations were conducted in areas with the highest overdose rates in the country, including Newark, New Jersey; Orlando, Florida; and Charleston, West Virginia. Marshals said 78 of the total arrests were confirmed gang members and 27 people were arrested for murder/homicide. Guns and drugs were also seized.
