PEIA reform bill targets drugs prices

The West Virginia State Senate this week passed a bill that would reform PEIA drug prices. The goal is to reign in Pharmacy Benefits Managers, or PBMs, to help control big disparities in drug prices and reimbursements to pharmacies from PEIA, which is the health insurance plan for most state employees and schoolteachers. There are concerns that large national chains are being paid more than local pharmacies for the same medicines. The bill now goes to the West Virginia House of Delegates.
