The teenager who was killed this week in Kanawha County has been identified as Koda Bryson Jarrett, 14, who was found dead along with Alisha Brooke Carnefix at a home in the St. Albans area. According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office the suspect in the deaths, Markus Deron Guy, 31, of Charleston, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Wednesday. Guy will be held without bond to await a preliminary hearing set for Thursday, Feb. 15. A spokesperson for Putnam County Schools said the district’s crisis support response team has been deployed to work with students. The sheriff’s office said it began working with Putnam County officials to make sure adequate counselors and staff were available at Winfield Middle School where Jarrett was a student.
