West Virginia American Water is in the process of buying Sissonville’s water system

West Virginia American Water has made an offer to acquire Sissonville’s water assets. The utility, which currently serves more than 170,000 customers in the Kanawha Valley area, said it is working with the Sissonville Public Service District to purchase its water systems, a process that could take anywhere from six to 12 months, according to an FAQ published by West Virginia American Water. Once the purchase is completed, WVAW said it plans to make more than $19 million worth of improvements to the PSD over the course of five years, including “necessary upgrades to the PSD’s existing treatment plant as well as the PSD’s collection system.” West Virginia American Water said the investments would “likely” result in rate adjustments for current customers, according to Eyewitness News.
