Officer-involved shooting in Nicholas County leaves a man dead

An investigation is underway after a man died following a deputy-involved shooting,. It happened Saturday morning in Nicholas County at a home on Muddlety Valley Road after officers responded to a domestic disturbance call. Gary Johnson had a warrant from Putnam County and once deputies made contact with him, Johnson ran into a wooded area with a gun. He was shot when he advanced at deputies, according to the investigation. West Virginia State Police are handling the case.
