South Charleston faces a lawsuit over accident involving a fire truck

The City of South Charleston is being sued over a 2023 accident involving a fire truck. The estate of Franklin Crouch, the man who died, is suing claiming the South Charleston fire truck that hit him was running a red light at high speeds on the intersection of Childress Road and U.S. 119. The court complaint also said that the fire truck driver was reckless and negligent, and did not slow down as it approached the red light as is required by law. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said in the September accident report that the fire truck was using its lights and siren.
