Stolen Mountaineer statue is found in great condition

A man has been charged after a Mountaineer statue was stolen from Tamarack Marketplace in Raleigh County. The prominent bronze statue was created by West Virginia artist Burl Jones and the theft was reported on Monday, Feb. 26, according to a news release from West Virginia State Police. The statue was found in pristine condition Thursday, Feb. 29. Billy Paul Brown of Pax, WV was taken into custody. Brown is charged with one count of grand larceny.
